You might know that jumping on a mini trampoline (rebounding) is very possibly the best form of exercise you can do. Dr. Robert O. Young thinks 15-min. sessions on the rebounder are perfect (do 2 or 3 sessions a day).
Rebounding works every one of the trillion cells in the body, and forces the lymph system to pump, without joint pain like jumping rope causes. It can put you in your target heart rate zone, which strengthens your heart. It relieves stress by stabilizing the nervous system; it helps the lymph system move waste and detoxifies; and it builds muscle. And it’s fun!
Many very inexpensive rebounders are available that I find people who buy them end up stashing in a corner and never using. A few companies have studied how the health benefits are achieved and have created more sophisticated models that you’ll actually love, because their superior products optimize the user experience. I have tried them all, and my favorite, far and away, is the Bellicon.
I’d never heard of this company or seen a rebounder like it, until I used one at the Swiss Mountain Clinic and fell in love with it. When I got back, I contacted the company and got my own as quickly as I could!
The Bellicon uses bungees instead of wire springs, which is not only very quiet, but is also a completely different jumping experience that I wanted to do every day! Check out this video comparing what it looks like to jump on a coil spring rebounder (the highly-rated Cellerciser):
Rebounding is an all-in-one isotonic, aerobic, isometric, and calisthenic workout. Dr. James White of UCSD said (as quoted by Dr. Robert O. Young in The pH Miracle for Weight Loss) that “rebounding is more effective for both fitness and weight loss than cycling, running, or jogging . . . with the added advantage of producing dramatically fewer injuries” (p. 158).
